TYPES OF SCHOLARSHIPS

Know what you're applying for.

Each type works differently, so the right strategy depends on your profile and budget.

★

Fully funded

Cover tuition and usually living costs, and often travel. Very competitive, so apply early and apply to several.

%

Partial

Reduce part of the tuition or give a fixed grant. Often combinable with other funding, so check each award's rules.

◎

Merit-based

Awarded for academic results, leadership, research or other achievements. Some are automatic at admission, others need a separate application.

♡

Need-based

Consider your financial circumstances, so you will usually need supporting financial documents and an honest statement.

⚑

Government

Funded by governments or public bodies. Often highly selective and may include conditions such as returning home after your course.

🎓

University

Awards offered by the universities themselves, usually reducing tuition. Many are considered along with your admission application.

COMMON ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

What scholarship panels look for.

Most awards combine several of these. Knowing them early tells you where to focus.

%

Academic record

Grades and course level are the starting point for almost every award. Strong results open the most doors.

⚐

Nationality and residence

Many programmes are limited to citizens of certain countries, so confirm yours is eligible before you invest time.

🎓

Level and subject

Some awards fund only bachelor's, master's or PhD study, and some target particular fields.

✓

Admission status

Some awards are assessed with your admission application, while others need an offer from a specific university first.

Aa

English proficiency

A valid test score is common, even where a university waives the test for admission. Check each award's own rule.

★

Experience and goals

Leadership and government awards often value work experience and a clear plan for your impact.

When should I start applying for scholarships?

Ideally 12 to 15 months before your course starts. Many major awards open nine to twelve months ahead and some require an offer from the university first, so early preparation matters.

Can I apply for more than one scholarship?

Yes, and most successful students do. Check each award's rules, because some do not allow you to hold other major funding at the same time.

Do I need an admission offer before I apply?

It depends. Some scholarships are assessed together with your admission application, while others ask for an offer or application number first. The checker and timeline above show a typical order.

Are scholarships available for Indian students?

Yes, many programmes accept Indian applicants, and some are designed for them. Eligibility differs by award and year, so we check the current rules for each one on your shortlist.

What is the difference between a scholarship and an education loan?

A scholarship does not need to be repaid, while a loan does. Many students combine a partial scholarship with savings and a loan. Our cost calculator includes a loan planner to see the monthly repayment.

Does a high IELTS score improve my chances?

A valid English test score is a requirement for many awards, and a strong score can help your overall application. Academic results, essays and references usually matter more.

      Do you guarantee a scholarship?

No. Awards are decided by the scholarship providers. We help you find suitable options, prepare a strong application and meet deadlines.
